Volunteers and workshop placements

Legal Aid ACT encourages volunteers and workshop placements.

The Legal Practices (Criminal, Family & General) give preference to qualified lawyers and students who are near completing their legal qualifications, however, we consider all applications.

Applications for these placements will be considered once a resume has been forwarded to hr@legalaidact.org.au.

Resumes should include:

Your resume will be retained for a period of 3 months and considered for any non-advertised placement opportunities, at the expiration of the 3 month period your resume will be destroyed.

Should you not be successful in obtaining a placement with Legal Aid ACT in the specified 3 month period, you will be required to resubmit your resume for further consideration.

Please note: Receipt of your resume will not be acknowledged.

Volunteers at Legal Aid ACT are managed in accordance with an internal policy. This policy sets out the responsibilities of both Legal Aid ACT and any volunteers engaged by Legal Aid ACT.

A copy of the policy can be found here. If you have any further queries concerning this process please email hr@legalaidact.org.au

Work experience

Legal Aid participates in Work Experience placements, however, due to privacy issues and the sensitive nature of many of our legal matters, the areas where school students under the age of 18 are able to participate are limited. Most placements will occur in administrative areas.
