Legal Aid ACT has a number of lawyer vacancies, at a range of experience levels, available for filling through our temporary register.

Immediate vacancies exist in our Criminal and Family Practices and supervising our Youth Law Centre program in our General Practice. 

Successful applicants will be required to work in a team of lawyers and support staff. The role requires you to conduct an effective legal aid service providing high volume and intensive case management to disadvantaged and vulnerable clients.

Lawyers in Legal Aid ACT undertake a range of work by providing information and advice, community legal education and client representation.

Suitably qualified persons should submit their résumé to the Legal Aid ACT Temporary register at: hr@legalaidact.org.au  Résumés will be retained for a period of three months, with resubmission required quarterly if you wish to remain active on the register.

Note: A temporary employment register allows Legal Aid ACT to fill non advertised vacancies for non-ongoing or temporary positions at short notice. 

 

Selection Criteria

Eligibility to hold a restricted Practicing Certificate in the ACT is required.

Experience in practice is highly desirable for all of these vacancies.
