
We are hosting free family law information sessions. These are in-person sessions open to anyone going through or thinking about separation.
The information sessions cover 3 topics. You can register for any of the topics.
Who are these sessions for?
These information sessions are open to anyone. You don’t need to be a Legal Aid client to attend.
The sessions are especially helpful if you:
- are thinking about separating or are going through separation
- are preparing for Family Dispute Resolution (mediation) – our parenting and property session covers how to prepare for mediation.
You don't need to be a Legal Aid client to attend.
Details
The sessions are held at the Legal Aid ACT office at 2 Allsop Street, Canberra.

Please be aware that there is a risk you may attend an information session coincidentally at the same time as your ex-partner.
If you have a Family Violence Order against your ex-partner, or they have one against you, it may not be appropriate to attend these sessions. If you are concerned for your safety in attending these sessions in person, please email community.education@legalaidact.org.au to discuss safety planning before booking.
| DIY Divorce | This session will explain how you can file your own divorce. It will include information on the forms to complete, costs, how to file forms and service. |

| Parenting arrangements after separation | This session will explain what the law says about who your children can live with, who they can spend time with and how they can communicate with parents. |
